Hello there! In my previous post I talked about polls I had in my instagram stories about what you’d like to see for blog posts and my picnic must haves was one of the winners! We usually have picnics at our local library park or by the creek and both of them have a playground for my kiddo. When you’re going on a picnic with your kid(s) I think most mom’s first thought is “What ALL do I need?!”. I used to over pack, under pack, or just wing it. Sometimes it worked, most times it didn’t. But after many picnics and trips to the park I think I’ve perfected what works best for me so I hope that it helps you too!
Here are my picnic must haves:
- Picnic Blanket
- Small ice chest filled with water + lunch/snack time favs
- Bug Spray
- Outdoor Game
- First Aid Kit
One thing that has changed our picnic/park game is this mini IGLOO ice chest. I think Johnathan got it at Dick’s Sporting Goods a couple of years ago and I absolutely love it! It’s super light weight, compact, and is just perfect for on the go. I always pack water for each of us, some fruit, juice, sandwiches, and a snack.
One of my other favorite things to have is a GoStak container. It comes with 4 different sized containers and they all twist together to make one whole piece. I love it because it has a handle and we can have several different snacks in one container without them touching. We are a part of the small population that doesn’t like their food to touch lol.
Another thing I like to bring with me is a plastic bag. We can throw all of our trash and also other trash we may find out as well. I just hang it on the ice chest while we’re there and then zip it and throw it in the trash once we’re done.
I don’t normally bring sunscreen with me only because I apply it at home and we’re not at the park long enough for me to have to reapply. But it is a must to put on. Bug spray is a big product that I ALWAYS have with us even though its not pictured. A first aid kit is a must have for basically any mom. This day at the park we went the whole time without Bub getting hurt until we’re leaving the park and he wanted to jump off the swings one last time and BOOM! He falls straight to the ground and scrapes his arm. Thank god I had my trustee first aid kit with me!
I love all of our trips to the park and all the picnics we get to enjoy with each other. I hope that these tips will help you have a fun, stress-free, park trip! As always, Thanks for reading!
